26-year-old Rambhakumari Kuswaha of Kalaiya sub-metropolis-11 Vishwambharpur got married to Sandeep Prasad Kuswaha, 30-years-old from Prasauni-7 Banjaria. They got married on May 15, 2078. Rambha, who studied only up to class four, now lives in Maiti with her minor one and a half year old daughter.

The pain of losing her earnings along with her husband

Within a few months of the marriage, Sandeep had reached the Saudi city of Riyadh during his foreign employment. While driving an excavator for road construction, he met with an accident on 24 Baisakh, 2080 and died on the spot.

By that time, she had earned 12 thousand 59 rupees, i.e. 4 lakh 26 thousand rupees according to the exchange rate at that time. Rambha has not received the same amount earned by her husband.

The separation of her husband has been bothering her, she said that she has become destitute because she did not get the money she had earned. The amount earned by Sandeep is also mentioned in the statement sent by the Nepali Embassy to Riyadh on 23rd June 2023 to the 'Consular' Department in Kathmandu Tripureshwar in Nepal. However, even after a year since the incident, Rambha said that she has not received the amount.

'After the death of my husband abroad, I have been living in Maiti because my family did not let me stay at home, and I have not even received the money earned by my husband,' she said, 'We are homeless and living in Maiti with a small child. Let alone the compensation to be received from the government or the company, the husband was not able to get the money earned by sweat from the 'consular' department.'

Rambha has submitted all the documents to the 'consular' department to get the money. "But the consular department says when the money has arrived and now we will give it, but it is delaying when the discussion will take place," said Rambha, "it is confusing." I went to Kathmandu twice. But, I didn't get the money.'

Rambha's brother Rajesh Kusawaha said that her brother-in-law, mother-in-law and father-in-law did not allow her sister to live in the in-laws' house. "On the day of the incident, my sister had a conversation about her son-in-law, she said that she had saved the money she earned," he said, "My sister's life is going through misfortune." I am taking care of my little niece (Chunumunu) and my sister in the same house.

He also said that after the death of his son-in-law, he made his sister suffer by not allowing her to stay at her in-laws' house. "After seeing that her sister's life was in danger, we brought her to Maiti," he said. "My daughter-in-law has gone and stayed in Maiti herself," he said, "what will you say to those who have gone willingly?"
