The Dhalkebar-Inruwa section of the Hetaunda-Dhalkebar-Inruwa 400 kV transmission line under construction has been put into operation to strengthen and make the electricity transmission system reliable and expand the electricity trade between Nepal and India.

Dhalkebar-Inaruwa transmission line in operation

The 154 km 400 KV double circuit transmission line from Dhalkebar in Dhanusha to Inruwa Substation located in Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-4 in Sunsari was charged and put into operation at 7:30 pm on Tuesday. The transmission line is charged by connecting Dhalkebar and Inruwa 400 KV substations.

With the commissioning of the Dhalkebar-Inaruwa section, electricity transmission has started for the first time in the country from 400 KV. Earlier, electricity was being imported-exported from Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur (India) international transmission line at 400 KV. Now electricity has been started in the country through 400 KV transmission lines.

With the commissioning of the Dhalkebar-Inaruwa section, it will be easy to improve the voltage of electricity supply mainly in the Terai district of Koshi province, said Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising. He said that overall, an important achievement has been achieved in making the country's transmission system quality and reliable and in increasing the volume of electricity trade between Nepal and India. The transmission line will be able to transmit about 4,000 megawatts of electricity.

Executive Director Ghising mentioned that since the transmission infrastructure is not ready, the amount of electricity import-export through the Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur international transmission line, which is currently in operation, can now be increased. Currently, the electricity import-export volume between the two countries is only 800 MW. He said that the electricity coming to Inruwa substation via Koshi Corridor can be consumed in that area and if there is surplus, it can be brought to Dhalkebar through Inruwa transmission line and exported to India.
