Pramod Kumar Jaiswal, an independent state MP who was elected by popular vote from Parsa 3 (a) in the last election, became a minister from UML's quota on Saturday. He had earlier supported the Jaspa government.

Three ministers and one state minister took oath from UML in Madhesh

Jaiswal, who has been seeking the post of minister ever since he won the state parliament, was determined to become a minister from JSPA. After becoming a minister, Jaiswal said, 'I wanted to work, UML gave me the opportunity. And became a minister.'

After the power equation at the center changed, Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav in Madhesh removed the Congress and brought the UML into the government last week. In Madhesh province, which has 11 ministries including the Chief Minister, UML claimed four ministries. However, Chief Minister Yadav was planning to give only 3 ministries to UML. According to UML sources, Chief Minister Yadav also insisted on making Jaiswal a minister from UML quota. "Independent MP Jaiswal was made a minister and the chief minister's position was to give 4 ministries to UML, if not only 3," said a provincial MP of UML. But the party was forced to make Jaiswal a minister. Jaiswal has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

On Saturday, three ministers and one state minister who were added to the Madhesh government from UML took the oath of office and secrecy. Chief Minister Yadav expanded the cabinet and administered oath to the newly appointed ministers and distributed the ministries. Last Monday, Chief Minister Yadav changed the power equation with the Congress by making UML parliamentary party leader Saroj Kumar Yadav (Mahottari) a minister. UML state MP Rajkumar Lekhi has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Home, Communications and Law, Shatrudhan Singh of Health and Population and Jaiswal of the Ministry of Education and Culture. UML MP Keshav Rai has been given the responsibility of Minister of State for Health and Population.

Lekhi, who became the Home, Communications and Law Minister from UML, was previously the Provincial Affairs and Law Minister in the Madhesh government. Lekhi was also a member of the Policy and Planning Commission of Madhesh Province during the tenure of the previous Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut. Singh, who became the Minister of Health and Population, was previously the Minister of Home Affairs and Communications in the state government. UML has previously re-instated parliamentary party leaders Yadav, Lekhi and Singh as ministers who lost their ministerial positions in a short period of time. UML has given an opportunity to an independent MP in one of the added ministries. With the entry of independent MP Jaiswal into UML, the number of UML MPs in Madhesh Province has reached 24. State chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed ministers.
