Tension in Birgunj over Rautahat dispute, indefinite curfew ordered

A curfew order has also been issued in Birganj after the protest over the clash over the idol of Saraswati Puja in Rautahat's Ishanath municipality created tension.
After the incident last Thursday, the curfew imposed in Rautahat from Saturday is still continuing. A curfew has also been imposed in Birgunj, which will be enforced from 5 pm on Monday after the general public started to protest against the incident.
Chief District Officer Dineshsagar Bhusal has issued a curfew order from 5 pm on Monday for an indefinite period as per section 6(a) of the Local Administration Act, 2028.
A curfew order has been issued to Nagwa Chowk in the east of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Tilawe Bridge in the west, Parwanipur in the north and Miteripul in the south.
It is prohibited to travel, gather, walk outside, hold rallies, gather or rally and do any kind of disorderly activities in those areas .
Last Thursday, people took out a protest rally in Birgunj on Monday regarding the dispute and clash between the two parties in Motipur of Ishanath municipality of Rautahat . During that time, there was a situation of conflict and clash between the two parties. A large number of security personnel had to be mobilized to control the situation.
'Curfew has been imposed as there is a possible risk to the safety of the general public and a breach of peace,' Chief District Officer Bhusal has said.
