The 3-day conference of the heads of protected areas has started from Monday at the Khandbari of Sankhuwasabha. 12 National Park Wardens, 1 Game Reserve Warden and 1 Wildlife Reserve Warden are participating in the conference. Similarly, 6 conservation area officers and 2 zoo officers are also participating.
Thirteen intermediate consumer sector presidents are included in the conference. Minister of State for Forest Deepak Karki inaugurated the conference. He said poachers could not be controlled due to the increase in poachers due to open borders. He expressed his concern that despite being a protected area rich in nature, he could not reap the benefits.
The conference will discuss how to creatively mobilize the funds available in the protected areas to make them self-sufficient, how to bring in new investments and in which areas. Similarly, along with conservation, how to use the available resources and how to benefit the local people who contribute to conservation will also be discussed, said Ved Kumar Dhakal, Deputy Director General of the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Development Department. The
conference will motivate the stakeholders and draw conclusions on the questions, problems and challenges that are currently seen and may appear at the local level under the protection zone system of Nepal. 150 people are participating in the conference, including Ganapati and Gulmapati of the army assigned to the National Reserve. The conference will be completed on 21 March. The conference was organized by the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation and Development.
