It was informed in a press conference held on Monday in the sub-metropolitan city that the Hetaunda Food Technology and Quality Control Office has issued a license saying that the gundruk produced by small entrepreneurs is suitable for use. Gundruk industry has received government quality recognition for the first time among the small businessmen engaged in the enterprise through the training conducted with the investment of the sub-metropolis. Himprasad Paudel, head of the sub-metropolitan industry branch, said that after about four months of testing and monitoring, the Food Technology and Quality Control Office has issued a license saying that Gundruk is suitable for use. Chinimaya Gurung, the president of the entrepreneur group, said that they are very happy that Gundruk, which started with 1 lakh rupees from the sub-metropolitan city, has been approved for marketing.

She said that by renting 15 plots of land from the money of the city and 80,000 rupees from the cooperative, she planted greens and started producing gundruk. She informed that because of the lack of a license, she could not take it to the market.

After signing the contract for the work last October, the group started the production of gundruk from November. Even though the sub-metropolis has given various types of training to more than 800 people, 268 people have joined the enterprise.

Mayor Meenakumari Lama has said that the sub-metropolitan corporation will assist in the marketing of gundruk produced in Hetaunda. Handing over the license to the entrepreneur group, she promised to support the marketing of Gundruk in Hetaunda market and other potential areas.
