The employees of the Federal Parliament Secretariat have protested by surrounding the office of the Secretary General of the Parliament. Surrounding the office of Parliament General Secretary Padma Prasad Pandey at Parliament Building Naya Waneshwar, he demanded to arrange service facilities for working extra time in Parliament.
The employees protested by tying black bands on their hands during the protest . They staged a dharna from 10 am to 11 am, demanding more service facilities including allowances for working overtime in the parliament apart from office hours.
President of Parliament Secretariat Staff Union, Govinda Prasad Belwase, warned to wait until 5 pm and protest from 10 am to 12 pm from Wednesday if the demand is not met.
He demanded that in the budget for the next year, there should be an assurance of service facility in the extra time . He said that the protest will continue until the demand is met.
Parliament Secretariat employees are on strike with 11-point demands . Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Speaker Narayan Prasad Dahal along with the chief whips of the political parties of the Parliament had a discussion with the employees on Monday .
