Lucknow Super Giants defeated Gujarat Super Giants by 33 runs on Sunday after Indian seamer Yash Thakur's first five-wicket performance. Yash took five wickets at the cost of 30 runs and for the win 164 Gujarat was reduced to 130 runs.
The 25-year-old Thakur, who has not yet played international cricket, took the last two wickets in the 19th over and Lucknow managed to get their first win in the fifth attempt against Gujarat. Marcus Stoinus scored 58 runs for Lucknow who batted first and the team scored 163 runs for five wickets.
It was a weaker score than expected in Twenty20 cricket. But the Lucknow bowler defended it easily. Krunal Pandya also bowled equally well and took three wickets. With their third consecutive win in four matches, Lucknow has climbed to the top three of the points table. Gujarat was limited to four points.
