Two hundred and fifty-three players from Koshi province will compete in the inter-provincial games starting from Sunday in Chitwan. The players of Koshi region who will participate in the tournament were bid farewell on Saturday morning.
Koshi State Social Development Minister Rajendra Karki, State Sports Development Board Member Secretary Hansraj Wagle, Vice President Vindia Karki bid farewell to the players at Itahari Stadium. The players who have been selected from different districts of Koshi province have been in closed training at Itahari Stadium for the past one week.
Women's cricket and swimming players have already reached Chitwan. On Saturday, 181 athletes including 40 women and men in football, 28 in volleyball, 25 in taekwondo, 39 in athletics, 24 in karate, 17 in boxing and 8 in badminton went to Chitwan.
Bidding farewell to the players, Social Development Minister of Koshi Province, Rajendra Karki, asked them to play in a way that not only the name of the province but the whole nation should be kept. Hansraj Wagle, Member Secretary, Koshi State Sports Development Board, claimed that best results will be obtained if the preparation of the players participating in the tournament is taken as the basis. Stating that the results will be good even as the players of the
department will not be participating, he informed that the preparations have been completed well. He said that he expects medals in group volleyball, football and women's cricket. An inter-provincial sports competition organized by Bagmati Province is being conducted in Chitwan from Sunday to 1st Baisakh.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda will inaugurate the tournament at Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur, Chitwan. In the competition, there will be 9 sports like athletics, volleyball, football, karate, taekwondo, boxing, swimming, badminton and cricket. According to the organizers, all the matches except men's football will be held in Chitwan.
men's futbol will be held at Gauritar stadium in Hetaunda. In the competition, 136 gold, 136 silver and 184 bronze medals will be contested. It is said that 1,547 players from all seven provinces will participate in the competition.
