The Managing Director (MD) and Laboratory Head of the National Medical College and Teaching Hospital were released on remand by the District Police Office Parsa on Wednesday night.

College MD Sahnwaz Ansari and lab head Sanjay Sah were arrested by the police last Monday and filed a case against black market and some other social crimes.

After the expiry of two days, on Wednesday, the police took permission from the court for an additional 5 days for investigation. On the same day that the court extended the deadline of 5 days, the police released both of them on bail.

According to Parsa Police Spokesman Kumar Vikram Thapa, the MD and Lab Chief of the National Medical College were released on remand on Wednesday night. Deputy Superintendent of Police Thapa said that both of them were admitted to the hospital and were handed over to their relatives during attendance due to their health. "During the investigation, both of them come when called by the police," he said.

Birganj Metropolitan City- 15 teaching hospital was raided last Monday afternoon by the drug department, monitoring committee of the metropolitan city and the police team based on a special information. Sanjay Sah, the managing director of the medical college and the head of the lab, was arrested by the police after the expired chemicals were recovered from the lab during the raid. Health workers and employees of the teaching hospital protested in front of the district police office last Tuesday, demanding the release of both. The Nepal Medical Association had warned of agitation if the MD and the head of the college were not released through a statement.
