President of Janata Samajwadi Party, Nepal Upendra Yadav has said that the country is in a complicated situation. Addressing the National Convention of CPN (Unified Socialist) in Kathmandu on Sunday, he said that commissarism and corruption have increased from the union to the state.
He said that democratic institutions are slowly becoming ineffective. He mentioned that democracy is the rule of the people and said that Nepal's democracy is changing to an arbitrary system through party rule and leader's rule.
He said, 'The country is in a complicated situation now. We have now saved the federal, democratic republic from a major accident. In this, Comrade Madhavji and the party here have been building since then, they have made a big contribution at that time. At that time, the parliament was dissolved two times in an unconstitutional manner and the country was being pushed towards arbitrary rule. At that time, it was necessary to protect democracy, to protect the acquired rights, and to institutionalize the achieved achievements. They rebelled when it was necessary. And today the federal republic was protected. This was a historical necessity.
President Yadav said that even today, democracy is gradually weakening. He said that the threats to democracy are coming from within the political parties.
