Janamat Party President Chandrakant Raut has said that leaders who eat at five-star hotels 15 days a month cannot bring socialism in a country where 43 percent of people are below the poverty line.
Addressing the National Congress of CPN (Unified Socialist) in Kathmandu on Sunday, he said that leaders who go to five-star hotels for dinner 15 days a month do not think they are socialists. He argued that leaders who go abroad for treatment in countries where citizens of Karnali do not get Citamol when they are sick cannot be socialists.
'We talk about socialism. If I go and eat at a five-star hotel for 15 days a month, where 43 percent of the people live below the poverty line, can I call myself a socialist?'' he said. , I want to be treated in an expensive hospital, I want to go abroad for treatment, whether I am a socialist or not.'
He said that the children of citizens go to government hospitals but do not improve the quality of government hospitals and the leaders who enroll their children in private schools cannot be socialists. "I enroll my children in expensive boarding schools, where most of the students are not in good condition, whether I am a socialist or not," he said.
President Raut said that the leaders were not able to follow the criteria of becoming a socialist.
