The ordinance has been brought by political consensus, there is no opposition: Finance Minister Pun

The Council of Ministers meeting on Monday decided to bring an ordinance to amend various provisions of the law that are considered unfavorable to investment.

Minister Pun said that the investment conference is not only for the government or the political parties that are on the side of the ruling party. He mentioned that not only the government but also the ruling party and the opposition will be seen in the conference.

'There is no disagreement or opposition from anyone in power or outside power that foreign investment should be brought to Nepal and the country should be developed,' Minister Pun said, 'Investment conference is not only for the government or the ruling parties. It also belongs to the opposition and it belongs to Nepal. From the opening to the end of the conference, we have made a program so that the faces of all political parties can be seen.

Minister Pun clarified that although the government changes from time to time due to political transition and the election system, there is continuity in policies for development, investment and domestic and foreign private sector.

'The face of the government is changing. However, there is policy continuity," said Pun, "due to the policy continuity taken by the then Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government in 2006, we have reached the point of exporting electricity today. We are not only interdependent on cement, we have started exporting.'

He believed that because the trend of capital and investment is to make profit, the environment in Nepal will be improved and foreign investment will come in a large number. "The tendency of capital is market and profit," he said, "Investment does not depend on whether there is a socialist or capitalist person in the government." Minister Pun mentioned that the government is working not only to attract foreign investment, but also to inspire domestic investors and entrepreneurs and raise their morale.
