Temke-Tuwachung Foundation Khotang has awarded the 'Temke-Tuwachung Award' to poet Bam Baniyan and painter Santosh Rai. Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-10 Patheka poet Baniyan and 14 Buipa painter Rai were awarded.

Appreciating the contribution to the district through literature, the poet Baniyan was awarded and the painter Rai was awarded for his contribution to the field of art and culture of Khotang by attaining higher education in fine arts, said Bhogen Eckley, the president of the foundation. On the occasion of its sixth anniversary,

Foundation held a formal program at Mundhum Resort in Mudea, Diktel on Saturday and awarded two talents with an award of 11 thousand 111 rupees each. Out of this, Baniyan was given the 'Temke-Tuwachung Award' for 2077/078 and Rai for 2079/080. The

award-winning Baniyan has published poetry collection 'Jagai Chhen Shabdharu' in 2068 and 'Manche Jotne Shahr' in 2073. Baniyan is the vice president of the National Child Rights Council of Nepal. Award-winning painter Rai is doing his MPhil in fine arts and is working as an art instructor at Nisarga Batika and Pathshala Nepal Foundation.

District Coordination Committee chief San Bahadur Rai handed over copperplates and cash prizes to the awarded talents. During the Literary Walk, artists who came to Khotang listened and narrated their creations to each other. Silo Art Kandraka artists presented a cultural program in the event.

Foundation has been awarding the 'Temke Tuwachung Award' every year by choosing an outstanding talent who has made a special contribution in the fields of language, art, literature, music, sports etc. of the district. Earlier in 2072 poet Chant Ranohachha, in 2073 karate player Sanjay Kumar Rai, in 2074 singer Radha Rai and in 2075 sculptor Rojan Rai was awarded.

The Foundation has been awarding talents of various fields of study annually from Akshaya Fund, which was established in the year 2070 at the initiative of Nepali writers who were born in Khotang and are living in Hong Kong. President Ackley said that eight lakhs have already been collected in the foundation's renewable fund.
