On this day (July 3) in 2013, Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was ousted by the military. Army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ousted Morsi after discussions with key clerics and political leaders.

In addition to that, the army chief declared that the constitution has been abolished and said that the country's governance will be exercised by the chief justice. Morsi became the President of Egypt on 13 June 2012. While drafting the country's new constitution, Morsi retained unlimited power as president.

because of which the movement against him started from November 2012. After the protest, he said that he would reduce the power vested in him. But after he did not fulfill the promise, the army deposed Morsi amid violent protests.

67-year-old Morsi died in June 2019 while the debate was going on in court.
