Out of the 12 candidates for the state assembly by-election, one has withdrawn his candidacy.
Ashok Sunar of Nepali Janata Dal, who had nominated for Bajhang State Assembly 1, has withdrawn his candidacy, the office of the Chief Election Officer has informed.
The Information Officer of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Prakash Singh, has informed that candidates who have not withdrawn their nominations have been given election symbols on Tuesday. Now there will be competition between 11 people for the by-election on 15th Baisakh.
Far Paschim Province Home Affairs Minister and Provincial Assembly Member Prithvi Bahadur Singh passed away in a road accident and by-elections are being held here. Abhishek Bahadur Singh, the eldest son of the deceased Singh, has filed his candidacy on behalf of the Congress, while the parties affiliated to the ruling coalition have also filed separate nominations for the state assembly by-elections. Daman Bhandari and Janak Budha of the Maoist Center have nominated themselves on behalf of the UML, the largest party in the alliance. Dil Bahadur Singh has been a candidate for the Integrated Socialists, another component of the power coalition.
Similarly, the candidature of Kishore Khadka from Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, Vinod Thapa from Rashtriya Matrubhumi Party, Khagendra Shahi from Nepal Labor Kisan Party and Kamal Ghartimar from National Republic Party.
Ram Bahadur Jagri from the Janata Samajwadi Party, Deepak Bahadur Khadka from the Federal Democratic National Forum and Sushila Devi Bista from the Janmat Party will also compete in the state assembly by-election.
