Jaspa's Bhandarilal Ahir has resigned within three days of becoming a minister in Lumbini. Ahir resigned on Sunday saying that there was an agreement to give 2 ministries to Jaspa while supporting the Chief Minister but it was not implemented. He became the Minister of Agriculture and Land Management on 6th Baisakh.

Resigned within 3 days of becoming a minister

Ahir said that he resigned as per the decision of the party state committee. "It is the chief minister's job to accept the resignation," he said. Jaspa has also warned that the support given to the government will be withdrawn if the agreement is not implemented. Jaspa state president Ashok Yadav claimed that the government is preparing to withdraw support if the agreement is not implemented. "We had decided and recommended the names of Bhandarilal Ahir and Ambika Kafle for the minister, but only one person was made the minister," he said, "if the agreement between the coalition is not implemented, we will withdraw the support."

After Ahir's resignation, Chief Minister Jokh Bahadur Mahara reached Kathmandu on Saturday to meet Jaspa President Upendra Yadav. Jaspa and civil emancipation will continue to protest until the ministry is added and UML will not allow the ministry to be added, he is in trouble. According to sources close to the Chief Minister, he will try to get Yadav to agree on one minister. If not successful in that, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and UML President KP Oli will meet and try to add the ministry.

State President of Maoist Sudarshan Baral said that since the agreement was written, it has to be implemented. However, he says that the issue of adding a ministry is difficult. "There is an obligation to give 2 ministries to the JSP and to reconcile civil liberties," he said, "that's why the Chief Minister has gone to Kathmandu to take a decision on the addition of the ministry after in-depth discussions with the UML."

Chief Minister Mahara is trying to increase the number of ministries to 12 to save the alliance. UML has been disagreeing with the decision to add the ministry.

Now Chief Minister Mahara is holding 7 ministries in Lumbini. UML's Chetnarayan Acharya has been given the responsibility of Economic Affairs and Planning, JSP's Ahir Agriculture and Land Management and Maoist's Dipendra Kumar Pun the Health Minister.

In Lumbini, 29 of UML, 10 of Maoists, 4 of Civil Immunity, 3 of Jaspa, 1 of United Samajwadi Party and 1 independent, Mahara of Maoist became the Chief Minister on Chait 23 with the support of 48 MPs. He took the vote of confidence on Chait 30. At the time of supporting Mahara, there was a written agreement on 7 points, including giving two ministries to Jaspa and also allowing integrated socialist and independent parliamentarians to participate in the government. In the 87-member provincial assembly, the number of 86 remained after one member of the RPP was suspended. Congress with 27 members, LOSPA with 3/3 members, Janamat, RPP and Rashtriya Janamorha with one member are in opposition. Even if JSP, which has 3 members, withdraws its support, the majority will remain in favor of the Chief Minister.
