New variant of Corona: Infectious, but less deadly

It is said that the new sub-variant 'KP' of the corona virus found in Nepal on Friday is infectious but not severe.
Dr. Sagarraj Bhandari, a communicable disease specialist, said that the new variant seen now is not fatal even though it spreads quickly to humans.
"KP.1", "KP.2", "KP.3" and "KP.4" were confirmed during gene sequencing of 42 people infected with the corona virus by the National Public Health Laboratory. "The variant of this species is not so deadly even though it gives people a cold for a long time," he said, "but patients with chronic diseases should exercise caution."
He said that since the variant of corona keeps changing and it can take the form of influenza later, vaccination against corona virus should be done regularly. "KP.1" was seen in 12 people, "KP.2" in 17 people, "KP.3" and "KP.4" in one person each.
