The 4th Prakash Dahal Memorial National Open Boxing Tournament has started from Monday at Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwar.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, patron of the competition, inaugurated the event. Prime Minister Dahal said that he felt that Prakash Dahal was popular among the youth due to the presence of youth in the competition which was started on the occasion of late Prakash Dahal's birth anniversary.

He expressed his belief that this competition will contribute more to the boxing game. On that occasion, Prime Minister Dahal honored Gunaraj Ruchal who won gold in the semi-pro event of the 19th World Muay Thai Championship held in Thailand. Former Minister Bina Thapa Magar, Rakhep Vice President Shiv Koirala, Rakhep Member-Secretary Tanklal Ghising, Nepal Olympic Committee Secretary General Nilendraraj Shrestha, Nepal Boxing Federation President Ram Awale and others were present at the

event.

Nepal Boxing Federation and Prakash Dahal Foundation jointly organized the tournament with the participation of 175 players from 31 teams including district, club, police club, army and APF.

General Secretary of Nepal Boxing Federation Man Bahadur Bhandari will compete in 23 events, 13 for men and 10 for women. The top three finishers in each competition will receive a prize of Rs 40,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. The competition will be completed on June 21.
