About 12 billion has been spent on the construction of the Sunkosi Marine Diversion Multipurpose Project. 11 billion 91 million 19 million has been spent on the construction of the project. The total cost of the project is 49.42 billion 31 million.

A year and a half later, the construction of the tunnel started on October 28, 1979. 80 percent of the tunnel construction work has been completed, while the Sunkosi dam construction work towards the headworks has started this year.

Mitra Baral, the head of the project, said that 2.8 billion was initially allocated, but it was not enough and an additional 1.9 billion was received from the government. It is seen that 11 billion will be spent according to the work out of the 4 billion 395 million allocated by the government this year.
