20 people in Ilam-2 and 12 people in Bajhang 1 (1) have registered their candidacies for the by-elections of members of the House of Representatives and State Assembly to be held on 15th Baisakh. The ruling party RSVP and S are going to contest the election alone. In the 2079 election, Nemwang defeated Khadka of the Congress, the candidate of the Congress, Maoist and SCO coalition, by a narrow margin of 114 votes. Nemwang got 30 thousand 20 votes and Khadka got 29 thousand 906 votes. Prakash Sapkota from RSVP got 1,380 votes. On the proportional side, the RSVP got 4,686 votes.

Identity leader Dakendrasingh Limbu, Dak Prasad Gautam, Arjun Kumar Shahi, Keshav Kumar Chapagain, Dipesh Bohra, Manoj Niraula, Yogendra Gurung and Raj Basyal have registered independent candidatures, Chief Election Officer Keshav Prasad Ghimire said.
