The government has formed a recommendation committee to select the chairman of the Nepal Securities Board. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday decided to form a chairman recommendation committee under the coordination of National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Min Bahadur Shrestha.
According to the provisions of the Securities Act, a three-member recommendation committee will be formed under the coordination of the vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission for the selection of the chairman. In which the finance secretary will be an ex-officio member and an independent expert member. There is an arrangement.
According to this provision, last January, the government formed a recommendation committee under the coordination of the Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission, Shrestha. The committee, which has Finance Secretary Madhukumar Marasini and expert member Uday Niraula as its members, could not choose its chairman even after 6 months.
After failing to recommend the names of three people according to the law, the recommendation committee decided to cancel the president selection process last Friday. Now the government has decided to give the same committee the responsibility of selecting the president.
