With the expansion of mobile services, it has been found that the number of basic (fixed) telephones is decreasing across the country. According to the Sunday Public Economic Survey 2080/81, the number of fixed or landline telephones was 832,000 until June of the last financial year, but by February of the current year, that number has decreased to 666,000 in use across the country.

An economic survey has shown that the number of fixed telephones has decreased by 26,000 in the last eight months. It seems that the number of mobile phones has increased by 92,000 in eight months. According to the data of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, 30 million 48 million 50 thousand mobile phones are in use till February 2080. In June last year, 3 crore 39 lakh 48 mobile phones were in use.

The economic survey has shown that a total of 35.4 million 59 thousand telephones are in use in the country till February 2080 . By June 2080, this number was 3 crore 47 lakh 83 thousand . In June of the financial year 2077/78, it is seen that 36 million 74 thousand mobile phones were in use, while 783 thousand landline phones were in use at that time.
