Rupak Sapkota, foreign advisor to the Prime Minister, who participated on behalf of Nepal in the Boao Forum for Asia organized in Hainan province of China with the slogan 'Asia and the world: common challenges, common responsibility', addressed the high-level session on Friday.
On that occasion, he said that the developing countries of the 'Southern Hemisphere', including Nepal, have been hit more by the recent global crises. He said, "Forums like the Boao Forum should be focused on addressing global issues such as the economic crisis, energy and food crisis, and the impact of climate change that the world is facing now." "Due to geopolitical conflict, increasing political polarization in world politics and weak cooperation, it is becoming difficult to advance Nepal's international cooperation on multilateral and economic issues," he said.
On that occasion, Sapkota requested to help Nepal's goal of upgrading from a least developed to a developing nation, addressing climate change disaster in a timely manner and achieving overall economic development and prosperity of Nepal.
Representing the government of Nepal, Sapkota came to Hainan to participate. More than 2,000 representatives from more than 60 countries participated in the Boao Forum.
