With the help of Ribdikot rural municipality, a cooperative has prepared for organic fertilizer production. After the report that the acidity of the soil is increasing due to the increase in the use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture, the production of organic fertilizers is about to begin.

Cooperative producing organic fertilizers

Narayan Bahadur Karki, chairman of the rural municipality, said that the work of the fertilizer factory structure has progressed in Rivdikot rural municipality-5, Nayatol.

Jaleshwar multi-purpose cooperative organization Kusumkhola located in Ribdikot and with the financial support of the rural municipality, the construction of the infrastructure of the fertilizer factory has started. 45 lakhs will be spent for the establishment of fertilizer factory in the first phase. The cooperative has leased three acres of land.

The factory will be built on one plant and the rest of the land will be used for animal husbandry and agriculture. The rural municipality has given a subsidy of 1.5 million to the cooperative this year. The remaining amount will be managed by the cooperative. Chairman Karki said that the insufficient amount will be given some subsidy next year. The soil and fertilizer testing laboratory Khajura Banke conducted tests at Ribdikot, Rampur and other places in Palpa and found that the soil was acidic and alkaline in some places.

Lately, due to the increasing use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agricultural crops, the quality of the soil is deteriorating, said Yama Bahadur Darlami, an expert in organic fertilizer production. He said that the decrease in the fertility of the soil has also affected the production. Due to excessive use of chemical fertilizers, even weeds have stopped growing in some parts of the hilly district.

Commercial vegetables and fruits are grown in Palungmainadi, Kusumkhola, Thimure, Khasyuli etc. of Ribdikot Rural Municipality. But the quality of the soil of Ribdikot has deteriorated a lot in the past few years, said Ranjiv Kunwar, head of the agriculture branch.

"During the soil test last year, it was seen that the quality of chemical fertilizers was deteriorating as a result of keeping the amount of chemical fertilizers moist," he said, "So now I thought that the use of organic fertilizers should be increased." As the production decreased, some of the villages have stopped farming.

The production has decreased as the crop is reduced. In some places, the problem of no farming at all has increased. Fertility reduction has been found while testing the soil to find the cause. According to agricultural experts, the pH value of cultivable soil in hilly areas should be 8, but only 4.5 has been observed in most places.

Based on the complaints of farmers about reduced soil fertility, the rural municipality had tested the soil of almost all the wards . Was disappointed not knowing the soil test and treatment .

After conducting soil testing camps in some of the municipalities here, the farmers have finally come to know which crops to grow on which soil. To prevent the soil from dying, to prevent the increase in acidity and to increase the use of organic fertilizers to increase production, compost and organic fertilizers that can be prepared at home There is an expert suggestion to produce.

'In view of this, it was decided to operate the organic fertilizer factory,' said village chairman Karki, 'according to experts, the fertilizer factory will help to increase all kinds of agricultural production and make the barren lands green.' The health condition is also deteriorating.

If the pH of the soil is less than 6.5, it is acidic, if it is up to 7.5, it is medium and if it is above it, it is alkaline. According to the agriculture branch, it has been found that nitrogen, phosphorus and potash are also very low along with the pH value due to the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides by the farmers. Agricultural expert Darlami said that the soil quality is deteriorating in most places.

President Karkeye said that a fertilizer factory is going to be built within the municipality under the campaign 'I will build my Rivdikot'. He said that there is a plan to make the partnership with the cooperative as well as the private sector participate in it. The work has progressed rapidly to bring the factory into operation by the end of June. Vice President Kanta Adhikari said that work has been progressing with the fertilizer sales campaign since the next financial year.

"In recent years, there has been a problem in the cultivation of agricultural crops because the quantity of chemical fertilizers is not available in the market," she said. There is a shortage of fertilizers for commercial farmers.

Chief administrative officer Mani Prasad Khanal said that although the identity of Rivdikot is agriculture, the decline in production is due to the deterioration of the soil. Akbare will produce chillies, oranges, ginger, turmeric and vegetables, he said. The annual production of Akbare chillies is 50 million, oranges are 70 million, and vegetables are more than 20 million. The chief administrative officer Khanal said that production will increase in this area from the organic fertilizer factory and local people will get jobs. According to Narayan Bahadur Lamtange Magar, president of

co-operative, the factory will be operated by taking 3 ropani land on lease. He said that it is planned to invest 51 percent cooperatives and 49 percent public for its sustainable operation. Krishna Kunwar, secretary of the cooperative, said that local raw materials including cow dung, local weeds, fallen leaves, green grass and apples will be used in the fertilizer factory.

Nearly 700 families are involved in commercial agriculture in the rural municipality. They have been doing farming as a normal livelihood. After the organic fertilizer factory, the rural municipality plans to make one thousand more families do agriculture commercially. Due to recent migration to the villages, there is a lack of cattle manure. Fertilizer will be produced from the factory according to the standards of the government's 2078 organic and bacterial fertilizer guidelines.
