Novak Djokovic, who is playing his first match after surgery, easily defeated Vit Kopriva 6-1, 6-2 and 6-2 and entered the second round of Wimbledon 2024. The 37-year-old Serbian Djokovic had a foot surgery on June 5.
On the women's side, there was a big unexpected result on the second day of the competition. Defending champion Marketa Vondrosova was defeated in the first round. She was defeated by Spain's Jessica Manerio 6-4 and 6-2.
This is the first time since 1984 that the defending champion has been defeated in the first round. At that time, Steffi Graf lost her match against Lori McNeil.
