The Wagmati state government led by Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel is in crisis. With the formation of a new alliance at the center, the power of Chief Minister Jamkattel has come into trouble as our Nepali Party (HANEPA) withdrew its support to the provincial government, which was in a minority in the province.
Hanepa, which has two MPs in the House, wrote a letter to the provincial chief and said that it has withdrawn its support to the government. HANEPA parliamentary party leader Shailendraman Bajracharya has withdrawn his support to the government since March 9, but registered the letter only on Tuesday. According to the office of the provincial head, he registered the letter through email. The letter sent by this party to the Chief Minister's office has also been informed to the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Hetounda and the Bagmati State Assembly Secretariat, Hetounda.
Hanepa supported the present government led by Jamkattel on 25th January 2079. However, HANEPA has withdrawn its support saying that despite the Chief Minister's repeated promise to make him a minister and chairman of the committee, he ignored it. Chief Minister Jamkattel cannot get a vote of confidence without the support of HANEPA, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPPA) and Nepal Labor Party (NEMKIPA). RPRPA and Nemkipa have already said that they will not support the government .
"In view of the recent changes in the political scenario of the province, we have withdrawn the support given to the government," he said. Bajracharya claimed that despite being a small party in terms of arithmetic, it is playing a strong role in maintaining parliamentary values and recognition. In the coming days, he said that his party will move forward in the role of a responsible opposition in the parliament.
After the Nepali Congress recalled its 6 ministers and withdrew its support to the government on February 23, Jamkatta is forced to take a vote of confidence. UML has 27 seats and Maoist has 21 seats in Wagmati state assembly. A majority of 56 seats is required in the 110-member Wagmati state assembly.
Although the United Socialists have 7 seats in the coalition, the coalition needs one more seat for a majority. Nemkipa has 3 seats and our Nepali Party has 2 seats. Maoist Wagmati Provincial Chairman and Maoist Provincial Assembly Member Saral Sahayatri Poudel said that talks are going on with our Nepali Party. Our Nepali Party has claimed the position of Chief Minister. Congress has 37 seats and RPP has 13 seats in Wagmati.
