The Diyalo Bungalow Palace of Chitwan Narayangadh, where King Mahendra died, is going to be opened for public viewing as a museum. On Friday, a 6-point agreement was signed between the Trust and the Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality to open and operate the palace owned by the Nepal Trust until June 82. Bharatpur Metropolitan Corporation has planned to open Dialo Bungalow within Baisakh.
"With the aim of making this place a new tourist destination, we have succeeded in reaching an agreement within three months of advancing the process to open it to the public. It is to be inaugurated on Baisakh 1. But the work of its reconstruction, repair and painting is left," said Renu Dahal, mayor of Bharatpur. She said that the Dialo bungalow area will be opened to the public on the 15th of Baisakh after this work is completed.
King Mahendra passed away on January 17, 2028 in Diyalo Bangla Darbar. Jhalakram Adhikari, member secretary of Nepal Trust, said that Raja Mahendra started construction in 2018 and built it in 26 years. He informed that the materials used by King Mahendra are there.
