Mechinagar municipality has provided subsidy of 2.6 lakh 83 thousand rupees to the farmers who grow turmeric. In the current financial year, 833 farmers in 15 wards of the city have been provided subsidy under the Torikheti promotion program.

Head of the Agriculture Branch, Tekendra Pradhan, said that with the aim of making the city self-sufficient in mustard, a mustard cultivation promotion program has been conducted and subsidies have been provided to encourage the farmers. According to him, the city had arranged a subsidy of Rs 15 per kilogram of mustard to connect the farmers with the production for the promotion of mustard cultivation.

According to the arrangement, subsidy money will be paid to the farmers who cultivated mustard on at least five katha to maximum one bigha of land.
