Stakeholders have expressed concern about the criteria to be met to get GSP Plus facilities. In collaboration with the European Union, the Government of Nepal, the International Trade Center and the International Labor Organization, a one-day comprehensive workshop has been organized in Kathmandu on the subject of "Special Beneficiary System Plus (GSP Plus) and International Labor Standards" by the Federation of Nepalese Industries and Commerce.

Stakeholder interest in the Convention to be ratified before GSP Plus facility

Stakeholders expressed interest in the criteria to be met in order to get GSP Plus facility.

Jyotsana Shrestha, the vice president of the Federation of Nepalese Industries and Commerce and the chairman of the Employers' Council, explained the impact of the convention that must be passed to get the GSP plus facility on the private sector. Although there is no doubt that Nepal's status as a developing country will increase Nepal's national self-esteem and identity at the international level, the international conventions 81, 87 and the issues recommended by them for the reform of Nepal's prevailing laws, as well as the facilities that Nepal has been receiving under the name of least developed countries such as customs exemptions, grants received from donor agencies, etc. It should be clear about it,' she said. In the

event, Veronique Lorenz, the ambassador of the European Union for Nepal, said that in order to join the EU GSP Plus, Nepal should ratify the ILO Conventions related to labor freedom and labor inspection and ensure their implementation.

International Labor Organization Nepal Country Director for Nepal, Numan Ozkan emphasized that ILO's assessment indicates that women's employment has an unequal impact on ensuring decent work. The workshop was attended by 70 representatives from governments, employers and donors, and will be held especially in Europe after being listed in developing countries. The discussion focused on exports.
