Petroleum storage site started

The construction of the petroleum storage site was stalled after a complaint was filed with the Abuse of Authority Investigation Commission on allegations of irregularities after the purchase of the land. The corporation has purchased 14 bighas of land near the Rohini river on the border of the two municipalities. Even now, one of the bigha land purchased by the Corporation is located in the Rohini River. Pradeep Yadav, coordinator of the storage house construction project, said that the dispute in the land related authority and parliamentary committee has been resolved. "After the settlement of the said dispute, the budget has been allocated for the construction," he said, "There is no dispute now." He said that work will be done in coordination with the local level for the construction of

storage houses. He said that since it is a river area, the work was moved forward after the expert stayed here for a month and a half after analyzing the 50-year flood history and submitted a report. Yadav said that the foundation stone of petroleum storage will be laid within 2081 after the completion of land acquisition and retaining wall construction. The construction will be completed within two years of the foundation stone laying. He said that it is estimated that three billion rupees will be invested for the petroleum storage house.

Omasatiya rural municipality chairman Manjit Kumar Yadav and Rohini rural municipality chairman Vidya Prasad Yadav jointly started the construction work. The presidents of both the municipalities suggested that the work should be carried out without affecting the local residents as there is a flood problem in the area where the corporation's land is located, and requested that the work be started by resolving the disputes related to the purchase process seen in the past. Ward presidents around the construction site requested to give priority to the locals in employment after the petroleum storage site is ready.

Now the depot in Ruppandehi's Valbari is narrow and it is in the middle of the settlement, he said. Therefore, he says, a depot is needed far away from the settlement. According to him, the capacity of Bhalbari will reach one week. He said that 70 percent of the land on which construction has started will be in Omasatiya-5 and 30 percent in Rohini-2. Rohini rural municipality chairman Vidya Prasad said that the municipality is ready to provide the necessary support for this while asking the locals to provide employment. Manjit Kumar, president of Omsatiya, said that due to the fear of flooding elsewhere, attention should be paid to the installation of the retaining wall.

Petroleum storage construction project coordinator Pradeep Yadav said that the storage house is going to be built at a cost of about 3 billion rupees. He said that in the petroleum storage house that will be built here, 3 tanks of 2,100 kiloliter capacity, 2 of 1,600 kiloliter capacity for gasoline storage and 3 of 70 kiloliter capacity tanks for kerosene will be constructed.
