Usha Khanal won the women's title and Suraj Ranamar won the men's title in the Mountain Bike Cross Country Olympics (MTB-Cross CO) cycle race held in Bharatpur on Saturday. By winning the competition held by Pragya Smriti Foundation, they also received a cash prize of 50,000 rupees.

They won the title by cycling on a track with some flat and some rough, steep and steep obstacles.

The track of four kilometers had to be covered with seven turns. On the women's side, Usha won the title with a time of one hour and 16 minutes, while Lakshmi Magar finished second with a time of one hour, 18 minutes and 23 seconds. In the same way, Indrakala Nemwang, who clocked one hour, 21 minutes and 37 seconds, came third. On the men's side, Suraj became the winner by crossing one hour, 14 minutes and 48 seconds, and Himal Tamta, who clocked one hour, 14 minutes and 55 seconds, was second.

Laxman Malla, who clocked one hour, 15 minutes and 34 seconds, was third. The winner received Rs 50,000 in cash while the second runner-up received Rs 40,000 and the third runner-up received Rs 30,000. Pragya Memorial Foundation, opened in the name of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's late son Prakash and eldest daughter Gyanu, has been organizing cycle races in Bharatpur for three years.

This time, a special track was built for the bicycle race, including the hillocks, in the forest area near Punyavarti Lake of Bharatpur Municipal Corporation-11 Ganeshdham. Nima Sherpa stood first, Sanjay Rai stood second and Rajiv Thakur stood third in the competition. Similarly, in the age group above 40 years, Hark Bahadur Lama was the first, Vikas Maharjan was the second and Dev Bahadur Bohra was the third.

Sudha Timilsina was the first, Mausumi Ale was the second and Juna Shrestha was the third in Chitwan special women. In Chitwan Special Men, Pramit Thapa came first, Hemchandra Gurung second and Krishna Ghimire third. In these categories, the first prize was Rs 20,000, the second prize was Rs 15,000 and the third prize was Rs 10,000. A total of 85 people participated in all 6 categories.

President of Pragya Memorial Foundation Renu Dahal, the Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, inaugurated the event, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Shalikram Jamarkattel. Speaking at the event, Mayor Renu Dahal has promised support from the foundation to the athletes who are going to participate in the international cycling competition.
