Red Cross deploys volunteers for disaster response

With the forecast of heavy rains this year, Red Cross has deployed its trained volunteers in all 77 districts in view of the possible risks.

Society's General Minister Bhupatilal Shrestha said that recently the monsoon has entered and the disaster preparedness work has been carried out to minimize the possible risk amid the forecast of more rain.

He said that orientation for preparation of monsoon has been completed in all seven provinces and 77 districts. Similarly, Lamjung, Morang, Sunsari, Rolpa, Okhaldhunga, Jhapa, Kaski, Dang, Taplejung and other districts have been affected by heavy monsoon and Red Cross has provided relief materials for the damage in those districts.

He said, 'Nepal Red Cross Society has worked regularly in disaster areas. We are working on different types of disasters whether earthquakes, fires, floods, landslides or other types of disasters. Lately, the monsoon has entered. There have been various estimates about this year's monsoon. In this year's monsoon too, it is predicted that there will be more than average rainfall in this monsoon and it will cause damage to people's wealth. In preparation for that, we have created a monsoon preparation plan.'
