It is said that the number of Nepali who went for foreign employment with labor permit during the period of 30 years has reached 59 lakh 69 thousand. Out of which 93.8 percent are men and 6.2 percent are women.
According to the economic survey report of the financial year 080/81 published on Sunday, the number of Nepalese workers who have received work permits for foreign employment has reached 59 lakh 69 thousand by February 2080. Since 2050/51, the government has started keeping a record of issuing labor permits for Nepalis going for foreign employment. According to the
report, till February of the current financial year There are 285,000 new labor permit takers. Out of which 86.4 percent are men and 13.6 percent are women.
The main destinations for foreign employment are Qatar, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait. In the recent period, the number of Nepali workers going to UAE, Japan, Maldives, Saudi Arabia and Europe is increasing.
111 countries have been institutionally opened for foreign employment. As of February 2080, 1599 manpower companies have been registered for the purpose of sending workers for foreign employment.
