Statistics show that hemophilia patients are beyond treatment. According to the national census of 2078, although there are 3,000 hemophilia patients, only 814 people are receiving regular treatment, according to Hemophilia Society Nepal.

Hemophilia patients beyond treatment

Mukund Ghimire, president of the society, said that now 814 people have come in contact and are undergoing treatment. He said that the treatment of hemophilia is expensive and beyond the reach of common people.

Hemophilia is a long-term bleeding condition due to the lack of essential elements for blood clotting. Dr. Niraj Kumar Singh, blood disease specialist of Veer Hospital informed that this is a hereditary problem. Hemophilia is caused by the lack of any one of the 13 elements of blood in the human body, he said. He said that the studies conducted in different countries of the world show that two-thirds of

is hereditary and one-third is caused by mutation. He says that treating a hemophiliac patient costs Rs 25,000, so treatment is beyond the reach of common people.

'The treatment of this disease is expensive,' Dr. Singh, a blood disease specialist, said, 'Citizens of a country like ours do not have easy access to its treatment. It is difficult to bear the expenses. The government should make a concrete policy or help in the treatment in some way.'

He says that the condition of people affected by hemophilia is becoming miserable due to the huge expenses incurred in testing and treatment, and due to lack of budget allocation from the state side.

Veer Hospital's blood disease specialist Dr. Singh said that hemophilia patients should be identified and treated. He said that the state should support the treatment of patients by becoming guardians. "Once blood flows from the body, at least 25,000 rupees will be required for treatment," he said.

People affected by hemophilia should avoid places where they may get injured. He said that if the amount of an element in the body is less than one percent, it is considered as severe, if it is between one and five percent, and if it is above five percent, it is considered as minor hemophilia.

There is no long-term treatment

Dr. Singh says that long-term treatment is not possible for hemophilia by treating it when it bleeds. "The treatment is not to let the blood flow," he said, "which lacks the essential elements of blood clotting." Protein should be given to that element for blood clotting.'

Hemophilia Society President Ghimire said that the amount allocated by the state for the diagnosis, care and treatment of people affected by this disease is low. He said that people with hemophilia suffered because the disease was not recognized in time, and there were problems in care and treatment. .
