The savers of Sahara Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society have said that the government did not show caution in not arresting the absconding owner GB Rai. On Friday, while submitting a memorandum to the Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Chiranjeevi Sharma, the savers of Sahara raised questions about Rai not being arrested.
The memorandum states, Even though arrest warrants have been issued against the fugitive operators of Sahara, why have they not been arrested? There is an atmosphere of serious doubt.'
It is stated in the memorandum that savings amounting to 85 million rupees has been collected in Chitwan Sahara and the amount has been transferred to individuals and private firms without collateral against the rules of the cooperative. Police investigation has shown that 120 million rupees were taken from Chitwan Sahara in the name of Gorkha Media Pvt Ltd, which is owned by GB Rai. Gorkha Media operates Galaxy TV. Ravi Lamichhane, the current Home Minister and also the MP of Chitwan-2, the Central Chairman of Rashtriya Swatantra Party, once worked in the same TV. Shalikram Duwadi, who is the coordinator of
Sangharsh Samiti, has mentioned in the memorandum that the police seized all the necessary documents from the office of the cooperative but did not take any other action. Duwadi said that most of the savers are from the lower and middle class and there is a problem with the treatment and treatment due to non-return of the money. Despite issuing an arrest warrant, the victims demanded that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal intervene in the case and issue strict instructions to arrest the fugitives. victims have submitted a memorandum to Bhakti Ram Adhikari, the president of Chitwan District Cooperative Union Limited, on Friday and demanded that he take initiative in solving the problem. Similarly, the victims of another cooperative Shiv Shikhar Multi-Purpose Cooperative also submitted a memorandum and demanded that the government take action to return the savings.
While understanding the memorandum of the savers, the Assistant Chief District Officer of Chitwan, Chiranjeevi Sharma, informed that the state is working to bring justice to the victims.
