First Valleywide Mayor's Cup begins in Tahakhel

Mahalakshmi Municipality defeated the host Godavari Municipality's A team by 4-2 goals in the penalty shootout at the Godavari Multi-Purpose Stadium located in Municipality-10 Tahakhel-Jhyaluntar.

Mahalakshmi's Siddhant Adhikari, Nishan Raut, Saroj Rai and Nishan Basnet scored . Godavari's Subas Tamang and Sayer Tamang scored . Godavari's early two penalties could not be converted into goals .

The ball hit by Neerajan Marhajan and Wangel Lama could not hit the net .

Mahalakshmi's goalkeeper Aryan Marhajan, who stopped two penalties, became the man of the match. He has received an award of Rs 5,000.

The game was decided by a penalty shootout after the game was tied for 90 minutes.

Mahalakshmi will compete with Dakshinkali Municipality on 21st Baisakh to enter the semi-finals. Dakshinkali directly reached the quarterfinals with a bye.

15 teams from 14 municipalities in the valley are competing in this competition.

The winner got Rs 5 lakh and the runner-up got Rs 3 lakh. 50,000 will be given to the disciplined team and 25,000 to the best goalkeeper, defender, forward, top scorer and best coach. There are 8 teams from 8 local levels in Kathmandu and 6 teams from 5 local levels in Lalitpur in the

competition. Bhaktapur district has one team and 15 teams are participating.
