Army and APF club sixth Veer Ganeshman Singh became the team champion in the National Boxing Tournament on Saturday. Army became champion in men and APF in women.

In men's category, Army won 3 gold medals, Police won 2 and Karnali won 1 gold medal. In women's category, APF won 3 golds while Army, Lumbini and Police won 1 gold each. There was competition for 6 golds each in men/women.

Chandra Bahadur Thapa of Police and Sangeeta Sunar of APF were declared the best players in the competition jointly organized by Veer Ganeshman Singh Sports Committee and Nepal Boxing Federation. Both won a prize of Rs 50,000 each.

Police's Chandra won gold by defeating Madhesh Pradesh's Ravin Thapa in the men's 51 kg final held at Rakhep Covered Hall in Tripureshwar. In men's 57 kg, Army's Prem Chaudhary beat Sulab Mali of Karnali (walkover), Bhupendra Thapa of Police beat Khagendra Roka Magar of Army in 63.5 kg, Dan Bahadur Darlami Magar of Army beat Bikram Chaudhary of APF in 71 kg, Manoj Tamang of Karnali beat Balaji Rawal of Far West in 80 kg and Mahendra KC of Army in 92 kg. APF's Ravin won the gold by defeating Nepal.

In women's 50kg Sushma Tamang of Lumbini beat Ramisha Shrestha of Wagmati, in 54kg Anjani Teli of Police beat Raksha Ji of Wagmati, in 57kg Varsha Shrestha of Army beat Narika Rai of Koshi, in 60kg Sangeeta Sunar of APF beat Lalita Maharjan of Army, in 66kg Vinita Thapa Magar of APF beat Niru Gurung of Army and In 75 kg, APF's Saraswati Rana defeated Army's Trisa Jabegu and won the gold. The top three winners of each weight category received a prize of Rs 25,000, 15,000 and Rs 7,500 respectively.
