Defending champion Carlos Alcarez made a winning start in Wimbledon-2024 on Monday. But this victory was a struggle. In the first round, he defeated Estonian qualifier Mark Lazal 7-6, 7-5 and 6-2.
Since winning the French Open last month, Spaniard Alcarez is on a quest to win another consecutive Grand Slam title. Top seed Yannick Siner defeated Yannick Hanfman 6-3, 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3 in the next match.
On the women's side, Iman Radukan beat Renata Zarazua 7-6, 6-3 . Similarly, Naomi Osaka won over Diana Perry 6-1, 1-6 and 6-4.
