  • The 60-year-old Dil Bahadur Shahi, the leader of the Raute community, met Lumbini Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya on Wednesday and gave him a wooden 'contract' as a gift, and demanded that Dasain expenses be arranged for the Raute.

The leader of the Raute community of Surkhet has arrived at the Chief Minister's office in Lumbini demanding Dasai expenses. The Raute community takes expenses from the Lumbini state government every year on Dasai. This time, 60-year-old Dil Bahadur Shahi, the leader of the Raute community, reached the chief minister's office of Lumbini state government on Wednesday.

Dhaka hat on the head, whip on the body, blue bag on the side and plastic slippers on the feet. After meeting the Chief Minister Chetnarayan Acharya, Raute Agua Shahi first gave a gift of wooden 'Theki', and demanded that Dasain expenses be arranged for Raute. The contract making profession is one of the main sources of income for the routers. The contract gifted to the Chief Minister was made by Shahi himself.

Chief Minister, this wooden box is a gift to you. Made by my own hands,'' said Shahi, 'if Dasin comes, we need to spend, let's celebrate Dasin.'

Last year, four people came to Deukhuri to collect Dasai expenses. But this year, Shahi was alone. Friends wanted to come. When the car came again, they got scared, and I came saying I am going to die,' he said.

The government has been giving social security allowances to the people of the Route community. They also get a monthly social security allowance of 4,000 rupees. However, they have reached from the Prime Minister's office to the state government for Dasain allowance.

Last year, the state government gave Rs. 25,000 to the routes for their Dasai expenses. This year, the Secretariat of the Chief Minister's Office has given 10,000 rupees.

Chief Minister Acharya has also sent a message of greetings through Shahi to all the Route communities to celebrate Dasai happily, said Dashrath Ghimire, Chief Minister's Press Coordinator.
