A lawsuit has been filed with new accusations regarding former US President Donald Trump trying to interfere in the 2020 election. After losing to Joe Biden (the current president), Trump has been accused of trying to influence the election results.

Last month, the US Supreme Court ruled that presidents are exempt from acting in their official capacity. But the prosecutors filed a new case against Trump with an amended indictment. The revised indictment also mentions four previous criminal charges. But now, according to the BBC, Trump is presented only as a candidate and not as a sitting president.

Jack Smith, the special prosecutor of the US Department of Justice, has charged Trump with four counts of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct government process, attempt to obstruct government process, and conspiracy against rights.

Trump has been denying the allegations of meddling in the 2020 election. Trump, who has been saying that there was widespread fraud in the names of voters in the election, has not shown any evidence about it. Trump's lawyer, Todd Blanch, asked to speak to Trump's campaign about the lawsuit, according to the BBC. But it is said that the election campaign did not give any answer.

Trump mentioned on his social network "Truth" that the new case against him was "an attempt to bring the dead back to life". He claims that this was done to divert the attention of Americans from the election. According to CNN, the new indictment is 36 pages long. The previous indictment was 45 pages.

The new indictment alleges that Trump attempted to influence the outcome of the election as a citizen. "Even though the defendant had no official role in the verification of the election results or procedural actions, Trump had a personal interest in getting himself elected," the indictment stated.
