The Nepali national men's cricket team, which is visiting Sri Lanka, was defeated in a practice match on Friday. In the absence of key players Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airi, the Nepali team led by Sompal Kami was defeated by the Sri Lankan development team by 5 wickets.
Rohit and Dipendra, who went to Canada to play in the Global T20 League, are there. After the Sri Lankan team won the toss, Nepal came in to bat and were bowled out for 159 runs after playing 40 overs. After losing 6 wickets before reaching 100 runs in 24 overs, Nepal could not get back into the game.
opener Asif Sheikh was dismissed for zero, Anil Shah for 3 and Sandeep Zora for 6. Kushal Bhurtel, another opener, scored 43 runs. He hit 4 fours and 1 six off 50 balls. In the middle order, Arif Sheikh scored 20 runs and Kushal Malla scored 35 runs to lead the Nepali innings.
Arif hit 2 fours in 33 balls and Malla hit 2 sixes in 55 balls. Sompal 2, Gulshan Jha 5, Karan KC 15 and Akash Chand were dismissed for 3 runs. Lalit Rajvanshi remained unbeaten scoring 3 runs. Garuka Sanketh took 4 wickets from Sri Lanka Development. He spent 39 runs in 7 overs. Thanuka Dabare took 2 wickets and Dhananjaya Sakshana, Chamindu Wijesingha and Ashen Daniel took 1 wicket each.
The Sri Lankan team completed the target in 26.5 overs. K Sanjula scored 68 runs to win the home team. Sanjula hit 10 fours off 60 balls when openers Pulindu Perera scored 9 runs and Dabare got out for 6 runs. Ashen Vandara scored 34 runs, Ravindu Rasantha scored 25 runs and supported him well. From Nepal, Sompal and Gulshan took 2 each and Lalit took 1 wicket. Sompal spent 33 runs in 4 overs and Gulshan spent 26 runs in 4 overs.
