Shanti Dhimal has won the Himalayan Teej Chess Tournament title. She won the competition 100% and won the trophy.
Shanti with 1657 rating defeated Priyansha Pradhan, Isha Koirala Poudel, Anaya Sainju, Nihana Shrestha and Anjal Maharjan and became the winner with 5 points in rapid chess based on Swiss system. 30-year-old Shanti is a selected player for the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary.
Two years ago Shanti, a player of the 44th Olympiad in Chennai, defeated Angel of 1646 rating in the decisive fifth round of the Teej Chess Tournament title. Nihana Shrestha became the runner-up with 4 points. Despite equal 4 points, Anaya Sainju finished third after falling behind Nihana in 'Bubbles'. Nihana and Anaya suffered the only loss in the match against Shanti .
