Palesha Govardhan, the historic medal winner for Nepal, has said that believing in herself is the biggest weapon of victory.

In her welcoming and congratulatory program held at the National Sports Council (Rakhep) on Wednesday, Palesha said that believing in herself was the basis of winning the bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics.

She said that now we can proudly say that Nepal also has an Olympic medal. Mentioning that the country expected a medal from her, she said that the medal was possible when she believed in herself in a difficult moment.

Palesha won a bronze medal in the women's 57 kg weight category under the women's K-44 category at the Paris Paralympics.

This medal is the biggest in Nepali sports history. He says that Nepal will no longer be in a situation where it cannot win a medal in the Olympics. Palesha responded that this medal is not only hers but also the country's medal and said that there is still a lot left to be done.

Coach Kaviraj Negi Lama said that it has now been proven that Nepal can also win a medal in the Olympics. Coach Lama has mentioned that although he went with the goal of winning gold, he was not able to get it in the beginning. However, this time in the repaches, he said that he was successful in playing with the strategy of not losing the opportunity to win the bronze medal. Coach Lama said that this medal was possible due to Palesha's tireless efforts and the support of his family. He said that Palesha proved that if we work hard, we can bring a medal in the Olympics.

National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising expressed the view that a dream of Nepali sports has been turned into a commercial and there is a lot of struggle to achieve this success. He mentioned that Palesha created a new history a decade after stepping into the Olympics. He says that after winning the

medal, it is legally constructed so that the players will get the prize and according to that, Palesha will get 65 lakh cash prize . Member Secretary Ghising mentioned that Palesha gave the medal as a symbol of love to the state and for that the country will be honored by this award.

Ghising said that the preparations have already started with the goal of winning a double digit medal including gold in Mission 2026 . He says that Palesha has opened an account in the history of winning medals in the Olympics. He believes that it will take many players to add medals to this account .

Youth and Sports Minister Tejulal Choudhary expressed his gratitude to Palesha for raising the country's head in the world after winning the medal and said that players and coaches should be prioritized first to build the nation's pride .

He asked the associations to focus on the development of the game rather than going abroad with a bow. Minister Choudhary said that it is a sad moment that Palesha's coach Kaviraj Negi Lama has worked as a self-employed coach till now. He believes that sports can give a lot to the country if they can work together.
