International Red Panda Trail Marathon will be held on October 5th. On the occasion of 'International Red Panda Day', a marathon is going to be held from the headquarter Fungling to the headquarter through Pathibhara Temple. The first Saturday of September is celebrated as Red Panda Day.

Prizes have been awarded in four categories in the competition organized by the Himalayan Conservation Forum with the financial support of Fungling Municipality and Redpanda Network.

The first runner among the overall competitors will receive a prize of one lakh rupees. Male and female runners will get first, second and third prizes at the rate of 50, 30 and 20 thousand respectively. According to the Acting President of the Himalayan Conservation Forum, Bhingmare Limbu, the contestants from Taplejung, Panchthar and Ilam, which are part of the Red Panda Corridor, will receive 15, 10 and 5,000 respectively.

According to him, a distance of 48 kilometers has been determined for all runners. "On the morning of August 5th, all the competitors will be kicked together," said Limbu, "the winner will be the one who arrives first, the second time the male will be the first for the male and the female will be the first for the female." The entry fee for international runners is USD 100. National runners have to pay Rs 3,000 and local runners have to pay Rs 1,000. Open women's marathon and half marathon have been held since 2062 in Taplejung. This competition was conducted last year as well. This year, it is going to be a full marathon for all runners without stopping for half.

A runway has been established from the headquarter Fungling via Suketar Binansthal to Deurali, Kaflepati, Upper Phedi, Pathibhara temple. Examination sites will be kept at six places. The network had brought the team of ultra runner Meera Rai and conducted a survey of the running venue earlier.

Red pandas are found in the Pathibhara area and since conservation work is also being done in this area, the same area has been chosen for the marathon, according to the Red Panda Network.
