Paris Para Olympics: Palesha will play against Venezuela and Bharat will play against Japanese players

Palesha Gobardhan and Bharatsingh Mahata of Taekwondo and Bhim Bahadur Kumal of Swimming are participating in the Paris Paralympics from Nepal.

Taekwondo players' initial rivalry has been decided on Tuesday. Coach Kaviraj Negi Lama has informed from Paris that the opponent of both the players has been decided according to the draw.

Bharat will play Japan's Mitsuya Tanaka in the first round on August 29 at the Grand Palace in Paris. His competition will be in men's under 58 kg category under K-44 category. There are 12 players in it. Bharat was selected in Paris through a wild card.

K-44 women under 57 kg Palesha will play against Venezuela's Valeria Morales. There are 11 players in this competition. Players who are defeated in the first round will not have the opportunity to play repechage.

Palesha passed the Asian qualifying stage and reached the Paralympic Games in Paris. In March, she reached Paris by winning gold in the Asian Paralympics held in Taiyan, China. Palesha, the historic bronze medalist of the 19th Asian Games, has played in the Tokyo Para Olympics.

Palesha, who was expected to win a medal this time, was defeated by China's Xie in the bronze medal match in Tokyo.

The Nepali Para Taekwondo team reached Paris on July 25 after 1 month preparatory training in Manchester, England. Taekwondo team manager is Ramchandra Shrestha, a member of Nepal Taekwondo Association and Nepal Paralympic Committee.

Swimmer Bhim Bahadur will compete in men's 50m freestyle. Saroj Shrestha, a member of the Paralympic Committee, is in the Nepali team's Safe The Mission.
