Nepal will play against Sri Lanka in the Central Asia Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women's Volleyball Nations League. The Nepal Volleyball Association has released the schedule of the 5-nation tournament to be held in Kathmandu from July 17 to 23 on Friday.

Along with Nepal and Sri Lanka, India, Iran and Maldives will compete in the round robin league. The top four teams to enter the semi-finals will play the first placed fourth and the second placed team will play the third placed team to enter the final.

After the match against Sri Lanka on July 17, Nepal will compete against India on July 18, Maldives on July 20 and Iran on July 21 in the round robin league. Jitendra Bahadur Chand, President of the Volleyball Association, informed that the estimated budget of the

tournament is 1.75 million. According to him, the government has promised to give 300,000 after the competition is over and the volleyball association will have to raise the remaining expenses. He said that the accommodation and food of the participating teams will be managed by the host country.

'Now there is a big economic recession, India was not determining the participation in the competition due to expenses. India is going to participate after Nepal said that it will manage food and accommodation,'' said Chand. All 5 participating teams are accommodated in Everest Hotel.

Women's national volleyball team coach Jagdish Bhatt said that Nepali team is well prepared as they have been in continuous training for 50 days. "After two friendly matches with the Russian team, we have got a chance to improve our shortcomings," Bhatt said, "There are 5 participating teams with equal status except Maldives. We are well aware of India and Iran. We are going to play to win the title.

Nepal has already selected a 14-member team under the captaincy of Aruna Shahi. Nepal lost both the friendly matches against the Russian team. In order to make the competition successful, the association has formed 21 sub-committees under the coordination of President Chand.

Upendra Mahato, the former president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, unveiled the Kava Women's Volleyball Nations League trophy. He said that he is very happy to join the volleyball association. Mahato said that he was very excited about the results for Kava from the performance that Nepal showed against the Russian team.
