Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs on Saturday and booked their place in the play-offs of this season's IPL. With the loss, defending champions Chennai are out of the tournament.

Captain Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli contributed significantly with the bat in Bengaluru's win. Bengaluru has won 6 games in a row to reach the play-offs. Batting first, Bengaluru scored 218 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

Plessis scored 54 and Kohli scored 47. In response, Chennai lost seven wickets and scored only 191 runs. Although both teams are on the same 14 points, Bengaluru has reached the play-offs based on run rate.

Now Bengaluru will play the eliminator on Wednesday . Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have been confirmed to play.
