Surya Nepal Western Open from Wednesday

The tournament will be held in 54 holes. 35 professional and 15 amateur players will compete in Surya Nepal Western Open, one of the two tournaments outside Kathmandu.

Defending champion and Nepal's number one golfer Shukra Bahadur Rai and Subas Tamang will not participate as they are busy with the Indian golf tour. After winning the Eastern Open in Dharan last month, Shukar went on the Indian golf tour. Former number one amateur golfer Subas recently got his card for Indian Golf Tour 2024 season.

Surya Nepal NPGA match play winner Dinesh Prajapati along with Bhuvan Nagarkoti, Ravi Khadka, Jairam Shrestha, Neeraj Tamang, Sanjay Lama, Dhan Bahadur Thapa will be contenders in this tournament. Sadabhav Acharya, an amateur of the national golf team, is also a contender. Sadbhav won the Surya Nepal Central Open this season.

The cut will be applied at the end of 36 holes. From that, 18 professional players will make it to the last 18 holes. Even in the case of amateur players, only those who are cut by professional players will be allowed to participate in the last 18 holes.

There is a total cash prize of 840,000. The winner of the competition will receive 140,000, the second and third place will receive 96,000 and 72,000 respectively. Professional players will win 59,000 and 50,000 respectively for the fourth and fifth place. The last day will be Saturday Pro-Am competition.
