The Karnali highway, which was closed due to the landslides that came with the incessant rain, has been opened after 48 hours. Transport services were stopped due to landslides in Gagnekhola, Esmode and Hulme in Calicut.
With the highway open, the stopped vehicles are heading towards their destination carrying passengers. The Road Division Office, Jumla, has said that the Karnali Highway has been operational since 1 pm.
'The road has been opened after removing the landslides on the highway,' Division Chief Chetan Kumar Mandal said, 'It seems that caution should be taken while traveling. The risk is still there. He also requested not to travel on the highway at night.
Kalikot's rooftops are suffering because of the highest landslides. "Thousands of passengers suffer here every year," said passenger Bishwaraj Kafle, "for a long-term solution, the government needs to manage the necessary budget." ;
